While working on this blog my good friend Max from Lunhare. He already re-released two CDRs of old cassettes: one with Enhanced Room Acoustics (along with a great Freiband remix of that old tape, which was incidentally also released by him in 1996) and Electrocute, Gematria and Gilles De Rais on one CDR. Now today he releases a double CDR of all the Assemblage works. I posted about this before. There is also a remix by Freiband on this one. I have copies for sale, so e-mail me. The label, who has more great releases is found here.

The next day two cars drove from Chicago to Columbus, Ohio, as Vertonen's Blake Edwards was also to perform over there. The Avantronics festival was put up by Mike Shiflet of Gameboy records and was two long nights/days perhaps of music. I scanned the part of the flyer, but then misplaced it again. After the concert somebody wanted to trade a painting with me for a CD. The painting was all black, but I used it later on to create the visuals for the booklet that came with the CDR release of this concert, as released by Gameboy, in an edition of 100 copies. What you download here is that CDR release. The first piece is a line recording Kapotte Muziek did, and the second a microphone recording of the 'encore' by Jason Talbot. Peter Duimelinks did the edits for the release. This was the final concert of the 2002 US tour as Kapotte Muziek. The next night we played as Goem in Philadelphia. Players were: Peter Duimelinks, Roel Meelkop and Frans de Waard. Gig 79 21-04-2002 AvanTronics Festival. Columbus, OH, USA

While in Chicago, Andrew Fenchel took us to WMBR where we did a lot of things: short solo sets as well as a Kapotte Muziek meets Stelzer/Talbot thing. This download has just that. Players were: Peter Duimelinks, Roel Meelkop and Frans de Waard. Gig 78 20-04-2002 WMBR, Chicago, IL, USA

From Detroit we headed out to Chicago to meet up with Andrew Fenchel, the lovely man from Lampo. He is responsible for this second US trip, since he got some grant somewhere for us. So we stay two days in Chicago. The first night we played as Kapotte Muziek at 6Odum/Lampo, the next night some solo stuff and a Goem concert at the same place. Stelzer/Talbot also play here. Great place and Dan Burke delivered some of the best pizza we ever had. Players were: Peter Duimelinks, Roel Meelkop and Frans de Waard. Gig 77 19-04-2002 Lampo. Chicago, IL, USA

Another concert not recorded. Also playing where Stelzer/Talbot and I did a solo set as Shifts - the only one ever in the USA. I think Darren and Warn asked for it. From this Shifts recording I made a piece for a compilation, called 'I Don't Know About Detroit', but of course that's different story. Players were: Peter Duimelinks, Roel Meelkop and Frans de Waard. Gig 76 18-04-2002 C-Pop Gallery. Detroit, MI, USA

From Easthampton to Troy is not far away. Of course we hoped that Pauline Oliveros would be sitting first row as she is the director there, but hey, surprise, surprise, she wasn't. Don't remember much of this concert, other than it was in a pitch black room and that we stayed with Scott Smallwood. At least this one was recorded. Players were: Peter Duimelinks, Roel Meelkop and Frans de Waard. Gig 75 17-04-2002 Renssalear Polytechnic Institute. Troy, NY, USA

The next day we did a short drive to the Flywheel in Easthampton, were Roel again did a solo set, and Stelzer/Talbot also played. Not many people showed up, but Thurston Moore came out (he liked Roel's solo thing), Gregory Whitehead ("wow, there is a guy in the audience who has the same voice as Gregory Whitehead, but obviously its not him. Why would he come to see you guys?") and my first ever meeting with the man I now know so much better: Scott Foust. Outside on the pavement, the smoking party gathered (Thurston, Roel, Scott and me), Scott mentioned in passing that I was 'well to do'. He doesn't remember, cause I asked him later, and he wasn't sure why he said so. And now for a little quiz. There is nothing to download from this gig, as there is no recording. Finish the following line and win a prize: "Hey, but that means that..."
